Lettering

Goals To Obtaining Your Varsity Letter.

THE REQUIREMENTS

Earning a Varsity Letter in high-school sports is a very proud moment in a student athlete's life. While everyone on the team is not guaranteed to earn their letter every year, we have established milestones for student-athletes to meet to be considered in acquiring their Varsity Letter. To obtain a "Letter" on the Kennesaw Mountain Swim & Dive team, you must meet the following requirements.

Women

Practice Attendance

  • Ninety Percent (90%) of all practices must be attended. This applies to year-round swimmers attending their year round practice.
  • There will be 4-5 make-up practices for those who need them.
ATTEND PRACTICE

Meet Attendance

  • All scheduled meets MUST be attended, unless prior approval is given by Coach Reason.
If a meet is missed without this approval, it could cost you your varsity letter.
  • If you are not able to attend a meet, you must give Coach Reason TWO WEEKS prior notice.
  • Swimmers and Divers are expected to attend meets, even if they are not participating in them, unless given prior approval by Coach Reason.

Points

Varsity letters MAY also be earned based on the amount of points earned by a swimmer or diver during the meets. An athlete scores points, individually and for the team, by placing in the top 2 or 3 on the team in an event, but can also be scoring in the top 10 or 20 of an event depending on the type of meet.

  • Score in HALF of the scheduled meets
  • Score a total of 60 points during the season

Other

There are a few other ways that MAY earn you your varsity letter.

  • Earn a county qualifying time in an individual event
  • The Swimmer/Diver must be deemed a "Varsity Level" athlete.

You must meet five (5) of the six (6) qualifications of the six to earn a letter.

The final decision on whether a swimmer or diver will letter is in the hands of the Head Coach David Reason, and the Coaching Staff.
